Ft Sumter wasn't an embassy. Surely you can make up something better than that.

The point I was making is that federal property like Fort Sumter did not automatically become Confederate property because the Confederacy says so. Normally, there are negotiations where some kind of value is placed on the fort and a requirement that there be some sort of reimbursement to the North. The Confederacy didn't want to pay.....so it should not come as a shock that the North attacked.

That didn't mean that northern troops in a southern fort were suddenly members of the Confederacy.

Anderson was asked to leave, he refused. He later changed his mind after a bit of persuasion.

You sound impressed. Steve, you all lost the war. Deal with it. The South needs to get over the civil war. Repuking it up every so often accomplishes nothing.
