Ron Paul on pace to raise close to 7 million today

Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul is raking in the cash today as grassroots supporters across the country are holding a ‘Tea Party’ to commemorate the anniversary of the Boston Tea Party and to protest the Federal Reserve’s ‘Inflation Tax’ and federal income taxes. The goal of the online fund raising event is to get 100,000 people to $100 each and raise 10 million.

Ron Paul is currently on pace to raise close to seven million for the day and may even raise more money if the rate of donations increases this afternoon. The numbers are staggering since Paul, unlike Huckabee, Romney, Giuliani, McCain, or Fred Thompson hasn’t been subsidized by extensive free media coverage on Television.

Ron Paul also looks like he will raise over 20 million for the quarter. To date over 100,000 people have donated to Paul’s campaign in the fourth quarter. Paul had raised just over 5 million in the third quarter and was positioned well among Republicans with the amount of cash on hand.

Paul is now not only the fund raising frontrunner among Republicans but if he raises 20 million for the quarter he has a shot at out raising Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama as well or at the very least being competitive with the Democratic frontrunners.

Ron Paul’s campaign has incredible popular support as he continues with his campaign theme of peace, freedom, and prosperity. Paul has had harsh words for the Federal Reserve and the housing crash that was created as a result of loose monetary policy and excessive government spending.

Paul’s opposition to the ‘Inflation Tax’ and federal income taxes appears to be resonating with middle class voters that are under an assault from the combination of the two.

Ron Paul’s opposition to the so-called Patriot Act and defense of the Bill of Rights has also helped propel his campaign as has his opposition to the invasion of Iraq.

Campaign contributions are updated in real time on the Ron Paul website.
