Get your cash ready. You'll be getting a chance at exactly those sorts of haircuts in SoCal, maybe as early as the end of 2008, and certainly by 2011. The question is more when than if. Prices here fell as much as 40% during the '89 - '94 RE recession, and mortgages at that time were much more stable than the time bombs people are sitting on today. A reversion to the mean will take SoCal RE down 50% if not more.
