Perhaps satisfied with the status quo isn't quite precise, but it's close enough. Maybe it's more accurate to say that fear of change is sufficiently strong as to make them more comfortable with keeping things as they are. Is that better?

Among the explanations I've received in so many words for keeping things the same:

1. Let's not rock the boat.
2. Management has our best interests in mind because why would they not?
3. ValueVest is to blame, not management, because they published management's response to their email.
4. It's better not to follow ValueVest's recommendations because if Ampex raised cash this way, they would be proving that Hillside was correct and then the whole Company would be in trouble.

This should give you an idea how investors could be satisfied with the status quo, or whatever it is you want to call it. Of course, these aren't really valid arguments, but are more excuses for not wanting to do anything or see any changes. I don't want to give the impression that most of the people responding to me wrote stuff like this, as most of the emails I've received have been very supportive.
