Johnny Cash credits communism with saving his family. And that came down from FDR's New Deal. During the Great Depression, communism worked to save the American people from starving.

Only much later was communism perverted and turned upside down into a non-democratic military dictatorship by the Soviets and others. That's when it got a bad name and deserved one, but socialism and the ideal of communism are only bad things to the very rich and corporate heirarchy. They are actually fundamentally democratic and pro-American.

When a nation is in dire straights and needs to feed its people, some form of communism is exactly what they need. Communism is also exactly what Jesus Christ taught, that is to share communally and love thy neighbor as thyself. Jesus told all the rich people to give their wealth to the poor. That's communism.

I am not promoting communism for this country, but if we had another Great Depression we'd need some of it. and of course our brand of communism would still be a 100% democracy and would include capitalism as the basic economic system.

You should read The Grapes Of Wrath and learn how hard it was merely to survive for a family in those days. And all the men who dared to try and organize workers for fair wages were branded communists by McCarthy types. Those same organizers later became the unions. Also, don't forget who caused the Great Depression, the industrial elite. The Bushie types.
