"The Vietnam War was lost by 1967"

Please. Don't be so binary.

We weren't losing. We were stalemated. Now it might have been true that if we had invaded the north, we could have broken the stalemate. But, there was the little problem of the Soviets and what kind of commitment they had in NVN.

There were also stories by the troops of the Chinese being in NVN, although I am sort of dubious about that. But, they were there and I wasn't, so...

Regardless, for whatever reason, we didn't want a confrontation. And that may or may not have made victory unlikely. Regardless, we were in an untenable situation.

But it wasn't because we were losing.
