Well, I just learned something...(g)

Vince Ferrell (CNBC commentator t'day) just stated that purchases of Gas at the Pump are calculated into "retail sales"...

Anyone else surprised 'sides me re: what category gas purchases were stuck into?

I've always--now it appears naively--thought retail sales comparisons were cumulative Macys, Sears, BestBuy, WallyWorld, etc., purchases. Never occurred to me that the "go juice" was also a "retail sale." Always just thought is was sales of STUFF, not commodities.

hmmmm...sounds like another place for "cooking the numbers"...
