Internap Extends 100% Uptime Performance to Content Delivery Network (CDN) Services
Tuesday December 18, 7:00 am ET
New Service Level Agreement (SLA) Includes Verification by Keynote Systems, Offers Quality and Uptime Guarantees across Performance IP(TM) and CDN with Proactive Notification

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Internap Network Services Corporation (NASDAQ:INAP - News), a global provider of end-to-end Internet business solutions, today announced a new service level agreement (SLA) that provides 100% uptime performance for its content delivery network (CDN) services.

The CDN SLA extends the 100% uptime SLA that Internap has offered for the last 10 years on its Performance IPTM network services. Included in this new SLA is third party verification by Keynote Systems and proactive notification by Internap as part of its end-to-end network monitoring and management.

This new SLA follows the acquisition of VitalStream in February 2007 and the integration of the VitalStream CDN with Internap’s Performance IP network infrastructure that includes patented technology and intellectual property known as MIRO (Managed Internet Route OptimizerTM).

MIRO monitors Internet backbones around the world in real time and automatically chooses the best route for traffic based on performance and reliability. Internap’s Performance IP and MIRO runs thousands of mission-critical websites and applications for more than 3,500 customers globally.

“Internap is changing the game in terms of CDN quality and reliability and by doing so is setting a new standard for the industry,” said James P. DeBlasio, chief executive officer at Internap.

“The integration of our CDN and Performance IP assets brings a new level of service to our current customer base, and we believe it will be of strong interest to new customers around the globe. Internap’s strategy of bundling data center, performance IP and CDN services, all backed by our 100% SLA, is a highly differentiated strategy designed to drive customer satisfaction and profitable growth for our company.”

Internap’s 100% SLA includes proactive customer notification by Internap based on third party verification from Keynote Systems, the leading provider of on-demand test and measurement solutions for mobile and Internet performance. The Keynote Global Test and Measurement Network of computers and mobile devices is the largest and most accurate real-time measurement, monitoring and testing infrastructure in the world with over 2,400 measurement computers and mobile devices in over 240 locations in 160 metropolitan areas around the world.

"Keynote Systems has become the litmus test for Internet performance," said Umang Gupta, chairman and chief executive officer at Keynote Systems. "The combination of Keynote's testing and measurement services with Internap's CDN and Performance IP will enable business and government to have even greater confidence in Internap's network solutions."

Internap’s CDN is engineered to support rich media and video content such as Adobe® Flash® technology and Microsoft Windows Media files as well as Web 2.0 applications such as social networking. These high-growth areas of the market are driving the growth in the marketplace and generating higher user expectations for performance, reliability, and security.

“As video on the web proliferates, high quality viewing experiences are a must,” said Bill Rusitzky, director of media alliances at Adobe. “Internap’s new service agreement guarantees the delivery of rich media content and is aligned with Adobe’s objective to deliver powerful and consistent user experiences via Adobe Flash Player compatible video.”

According to Tier1 Research, the market for content delivery services continues to grow and is forecasted to reach $2.2 billion by 2010. Rich media, dynamic content, large and variable traffic volumes and business intelligence are driving the high-value part of the market.

“The CDN industry is the most competitive segment of the entire Internet infrastructure market,” said Daniel Golding, vice president and research director at Tier1 Research. “Potential customers are looking hard at CDNs for differentiation, especially in the key areas of performance, availability and reliability. CDNs must raise their games in order to remain competitive, especially when it comes to SLAs.”

Snip

The general market still remains volatile & INAP has to deal with some near resistance, but it seems OK to buy back some of the stock that I sold above the $18 level in February.<g>
