"I paraphrased and..." No problem if you want to interpret what you 'think someone else actually means' by putting it in you own words. Just shouldn't say 'this person SAID THIS...', when they, er... didn't. (Or at least, you can show no link nor other direct quote for that.) If you want to say something is 'your opinion' I doubt anyone will gainsay your right to do so....
