CR: To quote Dr. Science, "Your ignorance is appalling".

<<<1) Fully Automated Factory. This was critical. It would be impossible to process the amount of code required to justify the market cap if the factory was not fully automated.>>>

The factory is fully automated in the following sense: In no case does a human programmer manually correct the code; this is done automatically. In no case does a human programmer test the code at MD; that is done automatically. Exceptions to catalogued date logic will occur, obviously. These are handled by the domain specialists (who might as well be called "exception handlers"). New rules are formulated by these programmers to handle the exceptions, and the code goes throught the factory again. It is an iterative procedure. Human intervention occurs. That has been known to almost everyone since the dark ages.

<<<The Gartner Group originally estimated that the cost to fix a LOC would be $1. Using the Gartner estimate, MD would need to process several billion LOC over the next two years. Of course, the cost per LOC is dropping dramatically (we know ZITL is quoting $0.50 per LOC) and the number of LOCs MD needs to process is approaching 10 BILLION!>>>

For the nth time, there is a front-end charge in addition to Zitel's charge. Gartner's estimate (which is not $1/LOC--where did you get that?) is for ALL OF THE WORK. And what scintilla of evidence do you have that "the cost per LOC is dropping dramatically"?

<<< How can MD process billions of LOC with several "technical specialists" assigned to each "work unit"? They can't. MD has only 25 - 30 employees and would need to hire thousands more. >>>

MD has about 100 employees. What is this thousands nonsense?

Arghh ... Why do I even bother?
