No, the Soviets took communism and turned it into fascism. All military-police states without freedom of speech or civil rights is fascism. The beauty of America is that we're against fascism. But Bushies tried hard to change that thanks to their abuse of power after 9-11.

We are ALL against Soviet style fascism/communist. Or North Korean or whatever. But in the beginning communism was very benign and greatly helpful to the majority of American people, and scared the be-Jesus out of the big fat cat capitalists. It saved us from the Great Depression which the big fat cat monopolists and Wall Street swindlers s created. And yes, those fat cats were the Republicans. No wonder they wanted communism to be forever a very dirty word. The Soviets helped too. But McCArthy was big fat traitor and liar. His definition of communism was anyone to the left of center who dared to speak out or attend a meeting.

BTW, the world's most successful capitalistic society now is communist China, so go figure.
