I read that Nanosolar has some special CIGS patents, created by their former Chief Scientist Eberspacher who founded the company with the CEO. You spray the CIGS on this wallpaper-like stuff that rolls up using dot matrix printers. I thought that was somehow new? Sounded good anyway.

But anyhoo, after missing shipment date after shipment date for 2+ years, Eberspacher winds up at Applied Materials as head of their solar division.

Meanwhile FSLR who uses CdTe which still mounts on glass, and not the spiffy rolled up wallpaper, was cutting costs and raising efficiencies like gangbusters. In the end utilities actually prefer the robust solar panels on glass, they hold up better.
