American Technology Receives Opening $1.1 Million LRAD-R(R) Order for Critical
Infrastructure Protection Project in the United Arab Emirates

Additional Orders for the Protection Project Expected This Fiscal Year

SAN DIEGO, CA, Dec 19, 2007 (MARKET WIRE via COMTEX) -- American Technology
Corporation (ATC) (ATCO), a leading innovator of directed sound products and
technologies, announced today it has received a $1.1 million opening LRAD-R(R)
order for a critical infrastructure protection project in the United Arab
Emirates (UAE). The Company expects to begin LRAD-R (Long Range Acoustic Device -
Remote) system deliveries under the order next quarter. ATC also expects this to
be the first of several LRAD-R system orders for this UAE project.

"This opening LRAD-R order is a milestone in our efforts to deploy these systems
throughout the Middle East," said Tom Brown, president and chief executive
officer of American Technology. "With LRADs currently deployed in government,
military and commercial security applications around the world including several
hundred in Iraq, LRAD-R is the solution for a variety of security environments
where low maintenance, trouble-free operation is a must."

Developed for military force protection in 2002, ATC created the directed
acoustic hailing and warning device market category with the introduction of its
proprietary LRAD technology and products. LRAD-R uses high intensity 15 degrees -
30 degrees focused acoustic output to communicate well in excess of 500 meters
with authority and high intelligibility. Through the use of powerful voice
commands and deterrent tones, large safety zones can be created while determining
the intent, influencing the behavior and gaining the compliance of an intruder.

LRAD-R features an emitter head, integrated camera, high-intensity searchlight
(optional) and full pan and tilt capability for precise aiming and tracking.
LRAD-R can be operated remotely across an IP network enabling system operators to
respond to potential threats from a safe environment while creating a complete
unmanned perimeter security solution. LRAD-R accepts intruder position
information from other IP-enabled sensor systems to automatically find and track
potential threats. LRAD-R's large safety zone gives security personnel additional
time and valuable information if an elevated intruder response becomes necessary.

Added Brown, "LRAD-R system operators can locate, track, communicate with, and
deter intruders. Our system is ideal for port and border security, enforcement of
exclusion zones around oil and gas platforms and pipelines, perimeter security
for petrochemical and nuclear plants, and many other areas requiring critical
infrastructure protection."
