For several weeks prior to announcing earnings, companies observe a quiet period where they either can't or don't make any announcements. Must be something religious. So my guess is that they got into their new year, the sandbagged orders were booked (remember that order flow is controlled by commissioned and bonused salesmen and that when they have a bad year they tend to delay the orders until the new year), and Fsi couldn't comment until their books were audited. Now they release the good news on orders, and monday we get the word on how q4 went and how much backlog is booked.

Interesting that the price of SMTL and FSI have equalized again.
