"I think it important for people to realize that Fox News is not the touchstone for most of America.

I see it on everywhere I go...in restaurants, bars, airports, etc....not just in NH but in FL and AZ too..."

Yes, you can find Fox News in millions of places. But in people's homes the broadcast news is watched by a factor of three or four to one over any Fox News program.

My point was that I bet 80% of the posters on this thread (and 95) on the GWB thread) watch Fox News regularly. This can help create a sense that all people have a shared base of knowledge or opinion. People draw their news from many sources, but from television certainly...Fox News is not the "first choice" of most of America. Sometimes people can't get it, because they don't have cable or satelite, but that belies the point of what they are watching, if they are watching anything at all.

the NewsHour with Jim Lehrer has 3.5 million viewers regularly on PBS. O'Reilly currently has 2.6 million and had a peak of about 3.4 million. Katie Couric still has 7 million....

That is what America watches....
