I have never read Marx, but I don't believe he wanted a police state where the citizens had no rights and the government becomes a military-industrial imperialism machine in a Cold War? That was all stuff the Soviet generals and party bosses made up when they started abusing their power. Am I not right?

My guess is that Marx was just talking about how instead of 1% rich and 99% poor the society would be better off with a huge middleclass or lower-middleclass. And remember in those days poor often meant starving to death. Ironically in North Korea they're now starving to death.

By the way, I don't agree with Marxt, but during the Great Depression communist-style programs (minus the police state stuff) really were temporarily helpful, and in its ideal form, communism is exactly what Jesus Christ would suggest, everything shared equally. Christ was all about sharing and sharing alike, loving neighbors as thyself, everybody equal.

So our democracy and main religion both have dashes of communism in them. Also, our neighbor to the north Canada is doing very well these days with many fine socialistic programs. Their universal health care in particular is exactly what we need. It would save our country huge amounts of money.
