re: "What did you think about Towerstream's potentially taking a more surgical view of the spectrum, as in, "eying slices of the much-less expensive adjacent A and B spectrum blocks?" "

Hard to say. The A block has its problems, being right next to a DTV channel below it, but in select markets it could be useful. My guess is the individual EA's in the A block will probably go cheap but the A block won't meet the overall reserve price for Auction 73, so the activity on the individual blocks won't matter in the end. Then it will be re-auctioned in Auction 76, and still won't meet reserve. We'll see how well my guesses pan out ;o).

The B block doesn't have the same statutory restrictions about not transmitting within (roughly speaking) a 60 mile radius of adjacent DTV stations since it is 2 channels away from the nearest DTV station, but the 1 megawatt DTV transmitters are not easy neighbors to get along with, even 2 channels away.

My guess is the B block will have the most bidders, maybe even some big ones looking to piece together a near-nationwide footprint. All the pieces of the B block that Towerstream wants will probably also be some of the more attractive to the other bidders.
