the point is, this state, CA obviously wants these standards. You should see the reaction to this "news". Silicon Valley did not create these standards, Arnold and the state legislature did with the overwhelming support of the populace. The point that you aren't getting is that wealthy people here DO NOT WANT HUGE SUVs. The only reason they sell here is because there are not many alternatives and the US govt pushes them on people like that tax deduction for 6K lbs and up vehicles.

You were griping about CA when you moved to Nevada. Fine, Nevada is a red state with a lot of wonderful businesses in the gaming industry. Its a cheap land state that makes its living off of CA money. New industries are not created in Nevada, they are created in CA or other west coast towns and "manufacturing" or "warehouseing" is setup in Nevada as with Amazon or Ausra. Sitting there listening to somebody from Nevada say what CA wants is really annoying and I am sure that is the emotion resonating with the voters of this state.

Again, the executives I know, who certainly make more money than you do, drive fuel efficient cars, Priuses and other hybrids. Thats what everybody wants, and that sentiment is pretty consistent across all coastal states. CA has had waivers for EPS lowgrade standards 50x and this will probably also go through with the help of the courts so nothing new. The voucher system they are proposing will kill detroit cars also though so it doesn't really matter.
