Garth:

I am new to this thread but started following Ballard's share price a few months ago in response to a press release or news story. Today's jump in price ~$18.50 per share somehow caught my eye especially when it's added to the other recent jumps.

I would like to add something with regards to Maxwell's conservative outlook (even if it has little to do with the overall success of fuel cell power)

I think it's far too early to judge the potential power from fuel cells. The New York Times article quotes substantial increases in power output 1989 - 3kW, 1993 - 10kW, 1995 - 28kW and present - 35kW+++.

Although I admit presently it's hard to imagine getting excited about a high performance vehicle without the rumble of a combustion engine I think we may be surprised.

After all, though combustion and fuel cells are both examples of chemical reactions, not all chemical reactions are created equal (who could have imagined the tremendous power with the splitting of a single atom).
