And a large part of the reason is the people he was preaching to didn't have a prayer of influencing government policy. So now you know his reasons? Whatever the reason he simply didn't say such things, so its not reasonable to argue that anyone who is against "high taxes and expensive government social programs" is acting against, or not following his teaching, despite what J. Chris Parson claimed.
