John

I'm laughing pretty hard here... :)

Well they give me up to 90 days before delivery to cancel and all I'm out is $100. They will refund $4900. Listened to a conference call about the car at Tesla a few days ago and they are still struggling with the transmission so it looks like we won't see any cars out to the first customers until late spring if we are lucky. My delivery is probably late 2009 if they get the tranny squared away.

It's pretty hard to design a transmission that can handle the torque from dead stop but the biggest problem I see is handling an input shaft speed of 13,000 RPM. (do we smell lubrication problems!)

Actually not worried about the battery problems since they do not cook them like we do in our laptops! (disclosure, I've worked with battery technology for many years)

Anyway my wild guess is the next big oil shock will be on our doorstep in the next two years and will be looking forward to driving by all those carbon based fueled cars backed up behind all the empty pumps!

regards
