I noticed no one mentioned refractory patients - those who receive no benefit from drugs. Regarding psychotropics their percentage is quite high and their lives are often devastatingly miserable. They often turn to ECT which would literally cause them to break their own bones if a muscle relaxant were not administered. ECT is barbaric.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) has yet to be approved
by the FDA even though it's efficacy is known throughout the western world. Separating Merck et all from their billions in drug revenues is probably stalling the FDAs approval.
