Yes, I have three but I made the mistake of omitting my children because they will suffer as well. I also lived through threat of nuclear warfare but I never felt that it was a serious possibility as long as we remained strong. Each side understood that it would mean losing everything. The Soviets lost largely because they ran up excessive debt. I understand that we can thank the BIS for making sure that they could borrow as much as they wanted.

I sometimes wonder if China and some others out there aren't helping us down the same road by buying our debt. I was in China in 83 attending an international technical meeting and took the opportunity to do a bit of sight seeing. A cab driver in XIAN said the Communism was just a passing thing in China and that his Grandchildren would live like we live in the USA. He went on to suggest that some of ours might be servants for his.

Now I'm going to back to lurking on this thread and stop adding to the Off-Topic chatter.
