TIC data, by month and by country, August through October 2007.

Who is buying USD?

1) UK
2) Cayman Islands (subsidiaries of US banks?)
3) Lately, Japan? China is not buying (!)

Oil exporters? Not much. This data seems to indicate mostly
large banks (London, Cayman Islands) were supporting the
dollar back in August through October. Nobody else was really
buying USD, not even oil exporters. Some, but not enough to
counter the trade deficit.

Are we buying USD, through foreign subsidiaries? It seems so.
