Discussion of hemp aside, since it is, as you put it, "a goner" for now (the new strains with no drug/hallucinogenic properties sound like the only feasible way to go with it) - it is interesting, don't you think, that the most healthful foods are the ones that man has tampered with the least?
Even among the meats, the most healthful beef, for example, is the range-fed beef that has had no hormone shots etc, and which is leaner than the common fare of feed-lot fattened beef. (I heard from a local man who is involved with livestock that feedlots mix the cattle manure in with the feed, so the cows eat it again and again - may be ok from a recycling standpoint, but it would seem also that there would be a build up of the undesirable elements that they excrete over and over again).
It indicates to me that food (either vegetable or meat) is best for us the way God first designed it.
Our attempts to evade the portion of the curse (see Genesis, after the fall of man) that befell the earth by such things as insecticides only add to our own harm. Insecticides are the easy way. Jesus warned that the easy way is the most harmful way.
