I know of many people who make $75-100K a year and who used their homes as ATM's

I bought my second home in 1964 for 23K and when it ballooned during the 70's I refinanced to put my wife though college so that she could become a teacher. As it continued to inflate, I used seconds to pay for various things, and ended up by the time of my divorce in 2001 owing a first only of about 170K on it. My ex sold it last year for 500K.

As I look back, I certainly don't regret with I did.
