E.coli are the most prevalent cause of urinary bladder infections...........they can also traVel up the "pipes" and get into the kidneys which are attached. Older women can have more problems with this as their cells that line the urinary tract are not as protective due to the lack of estrogen and subsequent lack of mucus secretions.
