Nixon was one of those enigmatic figures as smart as any prez we ever had but paranoid in the extreme from his upbringing. Being brought down for corruption in the 72 race that was one of the biggest blowouts in american history is just plain amazing. Nixon had over 60% of the vote and McGovern was a joke. So why did have nutcases doing these things boggles the imagination.
I am always hard on JFK because Camelot was never translated into success in govt. To be fair i was confident that we would see more success in the second term. First term was filled with assasination of diem in svn by cia, bay of pigs attack pushed by that days dick cheney, and then the march to the brink of war in the CMC. Congress was like now--much talk no legislation.
Merry Christmas Mike. No SI tomorrow---Family only and for me the chinese restarant beckons. By the way Atlantic City is hopping tomorrow with Asians, Jews and other non-believers.
