There is a large iraqi community in Michigan. I have a couple of business acquaintences there. Back during the gulf war we talked politics and they talked about the de-christianization of iraq following in much the same way as when they booted out the jews. Jews and Christians were viewed by saddam as a threat because there is much more independent thought in those communities and they are open to the views of the international community. I would suspect palestinian christians left not only because of the perpetual state of war with israel and the matter of israeli occupation but because islamists and fatah alike viewed them as a threat for similar reasons to the iraqis. Just a guess, not expert on this.
