Thanks for the reply MM. I would add that Toyota has been making noises about problems with LI batteries lately, one reason the next Prius was delayed. On the other hand, GM is 'full speed ahead' on their Volt, even though the battery tech (according to them) is not yet ready. So, American firms are starting to get the picture. I agree with you on US policy, we should have upped mileage standards or raised taxes on large SUV's years ago, and should have been picking off the low hanging fruit as quickly as possible. Perhaps 2008's election will foster changes, we shall see. I do think we are stuck with the ICE for a LONG time to come though... Happy Holidays, John
