Yes, very interesting. How much have we spent in Iraq thus far? $650B with another $80B appropriated for the coming year? How much have we increased Pentagon and DOD spending in the last 7 years? From $350B/year at the end of Clinton's Presidency to $550B/year now? And what do we have to show for it? Osama bin Laden is still out there. The Taliban are still attacking Afghanistan. Iraq is still a mess.

One year's worth of military spending would be enough to fund the entire project to make the US completely energy independent. If ever there was a value case for doing a project, this is it. If I was top brass at the head of our Military, I would think about how moving to energy independence would be the cheapest way to win the war against almost all of our enemies with one fell sweep.

My dad taught me what they teach you at the best Universities. The best way to guarantee your corporate success is to take on the toughest problems and then work yourself out of a job. What he meant was fix the problem so well, that you are not needed in that area any longer. Get known for being a problem solver and you'll never want for work. We need to teach our leaders the same thing. Solve our biggest problems and we'll keep voting you back in.
