*OT* Shoe, your points about the profligacy of the American consumer are well taken. I'm astounded when I look at statistics like debt levels and savings rates for them, yet the party seems to go on and on. I'm less in agreement with you about the very rich, taxation has been increasingly slanted (benefiting them) since Reagan, and at this point when you have billion dollar incomes taxed at 15%, they are basically taking money from you IMO. The argument is always that 'taxation will hurt economic growth'. However, back when Reagan started office marginal tax rates went up over 70% as I recall, and I don't think people stopped trying to get wealthy during those times. Yes the rich pay most of the taxes, but if you look at the stats I posted, they are still pulling WELL ahead when compared to everyone else. We are gonna need to fix the healthcare thing in this country one way or another, and now will face a huge bill to pay for the war and rebuild the Army/Marines. Gonna have to come from somewhere.

Best regards,
John
