What's your opinion on this ethanol solution that's been pushed right now? From what I read, it takes something like 4 or 5 units of energy to produce enough ethanol from corn for the fuel to release 1 unit of energy in return. However in comparison, ethanol produced from sugar gains a nett positive gain in energy....hence the reason for Brazil's remarkable success in pursuing ethanol from a sugar base.

If this is indeed so, why would we looking for such a backward solution?
