That's conventional hydro. They are now starting to use run-of-river hyrdo, and are putting turbines on bridge supports...SF is putting one in on the GG Bridge. Don't know if any of that has been rethought since the Minn. tragedy..vibration or whatever. Then there is the potential microhydro, to wit, me as a representative of lots of folks up here, and probably around the country. I have a seasonal creek, many, (including one son), have a year round creek.I haven't done anything about plugging mine in, cuz I break even now, and any XS I make would be welfare for PGE. Then there are all sorts of ocean generating systems going in. Mostly in Europe so far, 2 in the study process in my neck of the woods. Tidal dams, wave generators, ocean thermal, probably a few more I'm forgetting. US is way behind Europe in this. There is also pumped/stored hydro as the battery for XS wind power; don't know off the top of my head whether there is a working model yet.
If they start paying, first things first...time of use meter. Peak hours are 1000-1800. Just when I make the most. Gets 3X the credit of off-peak power or usage. Just when I use the most.
Ah, ya gotta love it. But you won't. And the little guy will say it is a commie plot. And Watson will make Crick wish he had left his name off the paper.
