Yeah, the Greens went after Hydo early. It was an easy target. Plans back in the 60s could have turned the Rockies into a Paradise. But Nooooooooo!

What are you talking about?! Have you bothered to check out how the dams built prior to the 60s that provide the hydro power are doing these days? They are less than 1/3 capacity and dropping (I'm talking about the two largest ones here, Lake Powell and Lake Mead). Lake Powell is so low that engineers are projecting that it will be below the intake pipes in a couple of years--they are making plans to put one even lower by 2010, so that they can get the water out.

Heat intensifies evaporation--you don't have to be a physicist to get that. That is the problem with dams. One problem, anyway. The problem that speaks directly to the issue of using them for power and for long term water storage.
