I find myself rethinking my life long stand on the death penalty. Every since they did Timothy McVeigh. He didn't even languish in jail very long. The execution procedure isn't punishment, in my view. A life behind bars, with no chance to get out, no visitors, no way to pass the time, no TV, very few books (if any), never a breath of fresh air, now that's punishment. I had major surgery a few years ago. They stretched me out on the operating table, injected me with stuff to put me to sleep and did the surgery. After coming out of that, I thought that's all they did to McVeigh. At least that's all he knew they did. How is that a fitting punishment for what he did? It's far too easy on the criminal.
