We had the same Christmas meal, but my wine choice unfortunately disappointed. The roast was good, however. First time I've ever cooked it, so I was experimenting.

Also made a pork posole for a dinner party a couple of days before Christmas which turned out excellent. Very simple to make, and very tasty. A traditional holiday fare. Since all it takes to make are cheap cuts of pork, canned hominy and assorted spices and condiments, I don't think I spent $30 on the main dish. Fed posole and quesadillas to 9 guests. They did drink a lot of my wine, mostly some CdRs whose names I have since forgotten. CdRs and spicy posole were a surprisingly good match but that judgment may have been influenced by the bottle of Mumm Cordon Rouge with which the cook and three of the guests began the evening.
