HARTFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 10, 1997--

Plan Highest of Those Rated in New York

Aetna U.S. Healthcare, the health business unit of Aetna (NYSE:AET) today announced that Standard and Poor's Corp. has assigned Aetna U.S. Healthcare of New York a financial strength rating of ''Api'' or ''good.''

Of the 42 managed care organizations rated by Standard & Poor's, Aetna U.S. Healthcare of New York received the highest rating of any New York plan, an ''Api'' rating. Nationwide, Aetna U.S. Healthcare of New York was among the 13 top-rated plans assigned a ''good'' or higher rating.

According to Standard & Poor's, health plans rated in this category tend to have strong balance sheets, a good earnings profile and a strong business position in the markets they operate in.

Aetna U.S. Healthcare of New York serves over 650,000 managed care members in New York State.
