Marc, the position of the AMA is to limit the number of doctors allowed to be licensed in the USA. Take your old supply/demand curve and greatly increase the supply to see what happens to prices. <G> But the AMA is the world's strongest trade union and no politician dares speak out against them, as it is electoral suicide.
