Barbara:###OFF-TOPIC### <<<<Here's my question for you: do you have a strategy for selling when you have significant profits in a stock.>>> Strategy???? Hmmmmm.Well no. I have specific goals/hopes in mind before buying any stock other than Dell. I bought the folllowing primarily because of a future stock split, qntm, wdc, itw,nb,bac, cpq, bcom, and therefore planned to sell soon after.(and usually did that). I bought the following because of a good steady appreciation, and kept them a long time bac,nb,phg,hd,noc, amd, intc, msft, glw, txn. I had no need nor plan to sell them no matter how much profit, but returns did not match dell's so sold all but msft, txn, to put money in Dell, cpq, spaz. I also sold some Dell once, year ago, never again.., except the calls that come due and upon which tax occurs. Jabil is a unique problem stock for me,3d time around. I have a minimal investment, still up 8% after today.Might give it up in disgust, buy a dell call or oil stock. Have owned stocks for 48 yrs, did not trade often,no computer, no internet,no change in Dow level for 8 years,(he,he), big retail broker fees. In a flat Dow I made 22% yr, of which the broker got 11%. Usually owned utilities, WECO,(now WEN), psd, bsg), paid around 12% interest. Or CD's when 9% and up. So you see I have little (no)experience in day-trading, just specific goals( so I can figure what went wrong, if it did) Nothing I see can match Dell long term.... Sig |
