The racists are all on the GOP side. They are the ones to worry about. But there are the subconscious racist swing-coters who don't even know they're racist but can be swayed by racist negative ads.
If Obama were to be the nominee, it would be a risky situation. That is, can you believe for one minute that the same creeps who ran smears against Harold Ford based on race, or smeared John Kerry and John McCain's war heroism, would hold back for one minute to go negative on Obama? and not just based on his race, also based on his name (Hussein? Osama-Obama?) and his father's nationality and religion (Nigerian Muslim)? Then we'd have to worry about what else is in Obama's past. Are there photos of him with Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton? If so, those would be used. Then there's the cocaine use, which he admits but has a coded meaning, so they would stress that.
I am still not saying Obama can't beat all this, but what I am saying is this is what we can expect if he's the nominee, and if smears still work in 2008 it could lose us the election in a year dems should win by a landslide.
To keep the race from being another tight one where the GOP could cheat and steal it like they did the last two times, we need a landslide, and that means winning the heartland purple and reddish states, many of which are nearly all white traditional type voters. So the question is, who can best win Colorado, Virginia, Arkansas, etc., plus other important states like Florida and Ohio? And what if Bloomberg runs? How to make up for lost Jewish voters in Florida and elsewhere?
If you do the math, it's clear Edwards is the safest best to get us a landslide beause he has great rural white appeal. That is my only point. Ditto for Hillary BTW as for Obama. The GOP will attack her negatively in sexist ways which will be very disgusting, but might just work.
GOP strategy against Obama = Borat Hussein Osama (they will call him) then show him with Jesse Jackson or whomever and scare whites about uppity blacks wanting to "take over".
GOP against Hillary - "Lesbian bitch emasculating castrator feminazi" - then attack Bill Clinton for Lewinsky and exaggerated sexual harrassment charges again.
GOP against Edwards - "A pretty boy phony who's rich so he can't possibly care about the middleclass, and he was a trial lawyer" (the least effective and scary to swing voters)
The above is the reality. To point this out is not racist or sexist, it's realistic. Let's all be realistic. The GOP needs to struck out, not thrown a hanging slider down the middle of the plate. |
