MS is already working on it, they were in bed w/Intel and HP from the start. MS has conquered the desktop, their next stop is servers and mid-range systems. Scaling NT "up" is a high priority, and Merced is the primary target system for Microsoft's attempt to unseat Unix and IBM in the server and midrange markets. For these applications, they will NEED the power of Merced.
