Ali,

"this suit Intel rebates/settlement] was orchestrated by Intel itself in order to get rid of stale inventory. Smart move."

Now, do you see how ingenious Intel's marketing is? It takes three to tango --- engineering, manufacturing, and marketing. Intel has the best of the three in the industry. A baseball with the best pitching, the best batting, and the best fielding or a football team with the best offense, the best defense, and the best special team just cannot lose!

"For every $50 out, they will make $125 since the 166MHz overdrive is about $200 today (-$25 in fabrication costs)."

Very good analysis, now you do realize how low the cost of fabrication is for classic Pentium. The P/MMX is not too much different from that.

Keep going, Ali! You are seeing the light! Very impressive, indeed!

John.
