"One of the things that really screws up the current system is employer involvement." Absolutely. It should be a contract between people and their insurance company. OTOH companies have more leverage with the insurer than individuals would. The collective effect allows some healthy people to subsidize some unhealthy people, and that is not all bad. We know how it got this way, now how do we unravel the screwed up portion and return it to a free market so that the best providers can win? It takes good information and a lot more.
