"not so much greed as the satisfaction that comes to many of triumphing over the establishment." Socialized Medicine is not triumphing over the establishment, it is people who don't know how to be egalitarian looking to force everyone to pay for thier ideals. Contemplate this: I donate to my church, university, the local art gallery, orchestra and I support missionary work in third world countries, social work, etc. Would it be ok with the proponents of Socialized Medicine if I codified the support for my favorite charities and taxed them based on my preferences? You can call it misdirected compassion, greed, desire to gain control over others, etc. I certainly don't see people supporting the ideal that some government bureaucrat immune from recourse gaining the power to sentence me to death as being charitable.
