Yes. Inflation in one currency may in fact represent deflation - when using a different measuring stick... be it a different, relatively stable currency, or something else - gold does come to mind. If I had all my assets for the last year in - for example - Murphy Oil, I would be living in a world of deflation. During periods of hyperinflation the worth of anything which is perceived as capable of preserving "real" value gets, in fact, a premium. One could say - it gets "inflated". I've seen this in real life, during my travels. And certainly, my interest in the subject is not purely theoretical... LOL!
