The only racists are on the rightwing. The key for Obama (as opposed to Edwards) winning in a landslide is to not give the rightwing smear machine (which is certainly racist, remember Harold Ford and the white girl ad just last year) any ammunition whatsoever they can use to stoke the country's latent racism, which they also do all the time vs. Mexicans and Muslims these days.

The reason I support Edwards is mainly because he can put 50% of the red states in play and win quite a few of them. That means a landslide which will totally wipe the corrupt rightwingers off the map.

Can Obama do this? Well it seems wildly implausible at first glance, but the truth is that yesterday his victory was partly delivered by unhappy Republicans and independents, including some who voted for Bush in 2004. And Iowa is 95% white too. So that is amazing. As Stockman says, maybe he is the Tiger Woods of politics who can transcend race and defang the rightwing racists. If so, we will be a much better off country. In fact we already are after yesterday.

BTW: Everyone knows Condi Rice was a token showhorse. She was never qualified to be National Security Director but was recruited as a black woman to partly disguise the 95% male white corporate country club elitists who run the Bush GOP.
