I had actually clicked on that link on your thread, but I decided to refrain from pointing out the obvious. I thought that I might wait until Wednesday before stirring the pot. McCain has consistently polled better than the other Republican candidates in head-to-head match-ups against the Democratic contenders. He just hasn't been able to make the case within his own party, though last night should serve as a wake up call. Huckabee is a passing fancy. He owes his victory last night to a very active and organized evangelical community, a base of support that he is going to be hard pressed to duplicate elsewhere. The GOP may not always be thrilled with McCain, but it is going to dawn on them that he is their best prospect, and ultimately all (or at least most) will be forgiven. He also has crossover appeal. A John McCain presidency would certainly shake up Washington and I don't think that it would play too badly overseas.
