That's how too much of the Republican electorate is going to see Rudy before this goes much farther. I think he's screwed.

Both Guiliani and Thompson under estimated the media and the general public. Their decisions to avoid the heartland states (Guiliani) and to delay announcement as a candidate (Thompson) were mistakes in my view.

Guiliani needed to do more to shed/explain his baggage as a social liberal to "all" republicans, not just Iowa.

Thompson needed to give a clear and acceptable rationale for delaying his entry as a candidate to all republicans, not just the christian right.

Now, they are both in a catchup mode. NH should be telling for both these guys.
