Is the government supposed to approve home loans? No. But it should have stepped in when greed overtook the real estate industry. That's what gov'ts do......mitigate the excesses of capitalism. How would the government prevent bad home loans without putting themselves into the approval process? What GOP politicians are in prison? Cunningham for one..there are few others. Most were found guilty in court and fined. Where have you been? Glad you were able to name one. I'll meet you with Jim Wright and raise with Roestenkowski.
